Cooler weather in October and November, is the start of thermal imaging season. Over the summer our work has been mainly air tightness testing across Scotland, including a mixture of housing and commercial buildings.

We’re delighted to be supporting our local family-focused Strathaven Rugby Football Club.

Thermal Image UK (TIUK) is delighted to be supporting environmental charity Climate Action Strathaven (CAS) as part of CAS’s newly launched “Retrofit Strathaven” project. TIUK will be carrying out a series of air tightness tests and thermal imaging surveys across housing in Strathaven to measure air permeability and air leakage, and detect missing or displaced insulation.

Thermal Image UK is delighted to have again been awarded Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace, and to have improved our Sustainability rating to Gold level.

With COP26 looming large the issue of climate change is front of mind, but there are big question marks about how the Scottish Government will achieve its ambitious target of net-zero emissions by 2045. How big a part will retrofitting play in that?

Another classic application for thermal imaging is identifying problems with cavity wall insulation. While infrared can be a useful tool on most building surveys, it's when identifying hidden problems such as damp or missing cavity wall insulation, that it comes in to its own. Symptoms for the householder can be cold spots with condensation forming internally, and a feeling that the wall insulation is not performing.
