Ensure The Air Tightness Of Your Property With Retrotec Equipment

Published: 23.12.2024

Whether you need an air tightness test on your residential or commercial new build for compliance purposes, or you’re looking to improve the energy efficiency of your building, Retrotec blower door air tightness testing is the way to go.

Our air tightness tests are conducted using calibrated Retrotec blower door fans. We take a series of air flow measurements which combined with the building’s volume or envelope area enables us to calculate the building’s air leakage rate.

Understanding Air Tightness Testing

Air tightness testing is a process used to measure the extent to which air can leak through gaps, cracks, and unsealed areas of the fabric of a building.

By identifying these areas of air leakage, air tightness testing can help homeowners, developers, contractors and others take vital corrective action to seal gaps, improve insulation, minimise energy waste, and reduce the heating and cooling costs of buildings.

Why Air Tightness Testing Is Important

Testing the air tightness of your property is a vital step towards complying with building Regulations.

It is now a legal requirement that all new buildings in Scotland and England & Wales must be tested for air tightness.

In addition to these legal requirements, making your building airtight saves money and energy, improves the comfort for occupiers – an air tight but well-ventilated building provides a healthier environment for living and working – and protects your building from potential structural damage.
